MY STORY

Why did I start Guttzee?

This simple question has quite a long answer!


I suspect 99% of the people visiting this site won't be interested enough to read my full biopic on the subject but for the 1% you can click the button below and fill your boots.


The shortened version is that I stumbled upon Kombucha when I was suffering with Long Covid and was looking for holistic ways to help improve my mental and physical health on the road to recovery.


I hadn't heard of Kombucha but found out that some non-scientific research had been done linking Kombucha with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and how some people found it helped with their recovery, mainly due to the importance of gut health on overall health.


I could have gone to the supermarket or health food shop and bought some, but I ordered a starter kit and started brewing my own at home. Upon tasting my first batch I was immediately hooked.


Things escalated fairly quickly and I was soon producing larger batches, experimenting with different teas and flavourings. I loved the process as much as I loved the drink, and my Long Covid symptoms of fatigue and brain fog dissipated week by week. I was drinking quite a lot of kombucha but producing too much to consume so I shared some with family and friends.


A particularly entrepreneurial friend, Jo, suggested I took it to the next level and started producing Kombucha to sell - calling me the Kombucha King (a crown I wasn't quite ready to wear at the time!).


Within a week I'd registered the business name and social media domains - my Guttzee journey had well and truly begun!
